Mesh Ergonomic Office Chair

Many people spend 8 hours or more sitting in an office chair every day – longer than they may spend sleeping on a mattress! That's why it's important to find a chair that offers the right combination of support features to suit your needs. Selecting an ergonomic office chair can offer a range of benefits, from lumbar support for improved posture to waterfall seating designed to reduce the amount of stress on the legs. Lumbar Support The lower-back area may be particularly susceptible to the discomfort caused by sitting unsupported for hours on end. Ergonomic desk chairs with lumbar padding provide targeted support to help ease stress to this area of the body, helping you remain comfortable throughout the day. Contoured padding provides enhanced support by conforming to the natural curve of your spine. Padding While many office chairs provide padding on the seat, some provide additional padding on the arms, headrest, back and more. High-back chairs may offer extra padded support. Adjustable Height and Tilt Sitting at a proper angle and at the proper height relative to your desk is key to remaining comfortable as you work. Some ergonomic chairs offer only seat-height adjustment, while other chairs allow users to adjust the seat height and angle as well as the height and angle of the headrest, armrests and even the footrest. Armrests or No Armrests Although chairs with padded arms often provide added support and comfort, an ergonomic chair without armrests may best suit your particular needs. Consider the height of your office desk and whether a chair's arms, including the padding, will fit beneath it, and determine whether it may be more beneficial to select an arm-free chair that allows your arms to rest on your desk at a comfortable angle. + Read more – Read less

Mesh chairs are a popular alternative to fully upholstered chairs, offering great ergonomic support as well as additional air circulation. The holes in the mesh are a natural venting system, which can be critical in hotter or more humid environments. Not only does mesh feel cool, it looks cool as well!

This chair is ergonomic and it is mesh which is helpful for those who have a job where they have to sit most of the day. However, this chair is narrow and I feel like it was made with smaller people in mind. Women will have a little more difficulty feeling comfortable sitting in this chair, just because of their body shape. We purchased two of the chairs and one of the chairs, the bolts came loose and dropped out when the staff member used the arms to raise up. It is a good chair, however, my staff are not built to use the chairs comfortably.

Best Ergonomic Office Chair for Lower Back Pain Under $1,000 : Would you expect that the only chair ever to be endorsed by the American Physical Therapy Association would be exciting? No, you’d expect it to put function over form at every turn. That’s almost entirely true in this case. It wants to look good — Haworth even commissioned upscale German design shop Ito Design to help — but the result is rather bland. Instead, focus on the science behind the chair — especially the asymmetrical adjustment system, designed in conjunction with the Human Performance Institute at the University of Michigan, that lets sitters target problem areas and conform the chair to their natural body shapes.

Another creation from Niels Diffrient, the Humanscale Freedom Headrest Task Chair is comfortable, functional and strikingly beautiful. It features a unique self-adjusting recline mechanism that “uses the sitter’s body weight and the laws of physics to perfectly and automatically adjust recline support for each individual.”

Best All-Around Office Chair for $500: The strength of Soma’s signature chair is the back. The tall, weirdly shaped spine is designed to reduce upper back, neck and shoulder tension while still supporting the lower back; that is, this chair is all about improving your posture. On the downside, it’s not nearly as attractive as some of the other options on this list.

Best Office Chair When Money Is No Object: The Embody is an expensive option, for sure, but you get what you pay for. The chair was designed by one of the original designers of Herman Miller’s flagship Aeron chair. To achieve its goal of helping the body move naturally, rotation points on the seat and the back keep your back in one stable position while everything else moves. Like other Herman Miller chairs, the Embody is sized, so it fits you perfectly, and it comes in a few fun color options.

I knew I was going to have a problem when the box arrived at my house all taped up with cellophane tape. This is my second attempt to write a review of this chair. Here are the problems I encountered with the installation. The chair was not new, but used. The screws were missing and I had to go to local hardware store to buy new screws. The chair was all scratched on seat cushion and back. The instruction sheet should have showed that you need to attach seat to arms first then install back second, otherwise the screw holes do not line up properly. I will never purchase another item from Walmart.com that cannot be returned to a Walmart store. That alone should have been my clue not to buy from this company. Also they do not show the real reviews from customers.

Best Office Chair for Commercial Use: The Steelcase Leap is one of the most popular desk chairs in the world. Designed in 1999, the Leap is the culmination of four years of intensive research on how the human back is impacted by long sitting sessions. The result of all that research is the LiveBack system, a method by which the seat and back of the chair adjust independently, allowing for complete support. Add that it’s 98 percent recyclable and blanket-wrapped for domestic delivery (instead of boxed, to reduce shipping costs) and you have a complete explanation for its popularity.
