Seat Lift Chair
Selecting a Lift Chair SpinLife offers you a comprehensive selection of lift chairs to meet your every need, ranging from a basic two-position electric recliner all the way to an infinite-position electric recliner. SpinLife has chosen Golden Technologies and Pride Lift Chairs as our vendors of choice for their quality manufacturing processes and their creative product development. Don’t know which electric recliner to choose? Not sure where to start? The following brief overview of what’s available among the electric recliner selection should help get you on your way. 2-Position Lift Chairs – A two-position lift chair has a sitting position, a reading position (which is a slight recline) and a lifted or standing position. These models are the most economical and come in a variety of fabrics and styles. These lift chairs are perfect if you’re searching for the most affordable Golden Technologies or Pride lift chair. 3-Position Lift Chairs – A three-position lift chair has a sitting position, a lifted position, a reading position and a recline position, which is sometimes called a “napping position”. It is NOT a full recline. This is the most popular category for an electric recliner with a broad range of styles, features and prices to meet everyone’s needs and budget. Infinite-Position Lift Chairs – For a full-recline position (also called the Trendelenburg Position) which elevates the feet above the heart, select an ‘infinite-position’ lift chair. The infinite-position electric recliner chairs have dual motors which allow you to control the footrest and the back independently, and they recline fully, allowing you to use the chair for sleeping. If you’re looking for the most versatile lift chair, these are for you. Heavy Duty Lift Chairs – Most lift chairs can accommodate up to 375 pounds. If you need a higher weight capacity we have a wide selection to choose from with weight capacities up to 700 pounds. Most have dual motors to ensure powerful operation and reduce wear on the motors of the electric recliner with long-term use. Lift chairs in this category are also available to accommodate those who are taller than average. Seat Lifts – Seat lifts are a great product that turns any chair in your home into a lift chair. They fit into existing chairs and come in both manual and power models, making them switch from chair to chair with ease. They are a great choice for when price is a concern. Seat lifts are also great for traveling, whether it is to visit the grandkids or to the next room in your home.

Medicare Part B may cover a portion of lift chairs as durable medical equipment (DME) in certain situations. There are two components to a lift chair, the seat-lift mechanism as well as the chair itself. Original Medicare only covers the seat-lift mechanism, the device that actually lifts the patient from the chair, as only this component meets the criteria for DME coverage. This applies even if the seat-lift mechanism is built into the chair. Medicare may cover the lift mechanism portion of the lift chair if your doctor determines that it’s medically necessary and may help your condition.

There are three types of lift chairs: two position lift chairs, three position lift chairs, and infinite position lift chairs. Two position lift chairs can go into the sitting and 15° recline position. The back and ottoman does not move independently. Three position lift chairs can go into the sitting, 15° recline, and 45° recline position. The back and ottoman does not move independently. Infinite position lift chairs can go recline into any position, even 90°. If an infinite position lift chair offers a Zero-gravity position, it means that the sitter’s body is positioned in a way that reduces stress on the joints. The Trendelenburg position is one where the sitter’s feet are higher than his/her head. The sleep position is one where the sitter lays flat.

A typical lift chair can accommodate up to 375 pounds. For those who need a higher weight capacity but want all of the features of a standard lift chair, heavy duty/high weight capacity lift chairs are an ideal option. Spinlife offers a variety of heavy duty/high weight capacity lift chairs, some featuring a 700 pound weight capacity. Most of these lift chairs feature dual motors, which reduces strain on the motors while ensuring powerful operation. These lift chairs can accommodate those who are taller than the average person.
If you have Medicare, Medicare can reimburse you for a purchase of a lift chair if you meet certain requirements. The reimbursement is never for the full cost of the chair as it only covers 80% of the cost of the lift mechanism (the mechanical part of the chair such as the motor and levers and not the “chair” part of the chair such as the seat, back, cushions, upholstery, armrest, and legs). This part is also called a “seat lift.”
If you are taller than 6’1”, finding the right lift chair might be tough. At Spinlife, we offer lift chairs that can accommodate users who are up to 6’8” tall. The tall lift chairs we feature have higher seat backs and a greater distance from the floor to the seat, allowing those with longer legs to be comfortable while experiencing all the features of a lift chair.
